Disease Process according to Ayurveda:

If you look at any diseases, which are explained in Ayurveda, there is a liner development of a disease establishment. Either that is fever or Cancer or MS, the process will be the same. Ayurveda explains that an abnormal change in the body is with an accumulation of water property. A stagnation of flow of the fluids or a blockage with solid materials and then the flow of water is disturbed, a formation of waxy – slimy-frothy substance and an occlusion which is called Sopha- a disease that can be correlated to oedema / general oedema /Kleda / which is entirely a typical Kapha disease. This is the first abnormal response of the body in the disease process. The word what we usually express in Ayurveda called Ama is this morbid material! It can be any substances in the body (or mind) accumulated, indigested, sticky or immobile. If you consider the body with number of channels, which is, filled with fluids like our Erath which is filled with flowing rivers. If the flow in the river is proper there is no accumulation of dirty substances. Everything is washed away. If the flow is improper, stagnated. Blocked, there can be frothy accumaulation on the sides of the river. Just like the dirty substances accumulated in the arteries and veins. This can be any deposits, like sugar or cholesterol or any morbid substances which will results into Ama or endo-exo toxns. Any hyper values in the body like, hyperlipidism, Hyperglycemia, Hyperadrenalism, Hyperbilirubinemia Hypercalcemia, Hypercholesterolemia, Hypereosinophilic syndrome, Hyperglycemia, Hyperimmunoglobulinemia , Hyperkalemia, Hyperparathyroidism, Hypertropia, Hypervitaminosis  are these kapha Ama diseases.

The next process of the diseases establishment or progress of the diseases is, inflammation on this sticky material. Inflammation, acidic changes, flame, agni involvement / paka / vidaha / Burning/ colour change/ heat increase like inflammatory symptoms /change etc. like words can be intercepted in this category. Vidagdha is the word, explained in Ayurveda for Pitta Ama. The same way Jwara is the inflammatory process and Visrapa  is the spreading type of inflammation which can be correlated for this condition.

Any diseases ending with “itis” can be grouped under this Pitta diseases.

Gastritis, Dermatitis, Conjuctivitis, Arthritis, Cervicitis and so on.

After the inflammation there will be the loss of function/ pain / loss of conductivity, formation of scars / keloid / degeneration, disintegration etc. / which is the typical Vata dysfunctional diseases. Here the activity is lost / gas formation in the Vata house and the final condition like Paralysis or Vishtbda form of Ama produced.  The capital explained Vata Vyadhi in Ayurveda should be understood in such conditions.

All diseases develop in this lineal order like Sopha- Visarpa- Vata Vyadhi (oedema-Inflammation-Loss of function). Or Prameha /Kushta / Vata rakta. More clearly everything is an inflammation. Jwara the first disease mentioned in Ayurveda. If you look deeply the inflammatory signs: Oedema (Kapha); Red colour, Heat (Pitta) ; Pain and loss of function (Vata) all contribute the total inflammation.

In this conference Dr.Jeevan explains the disease process according to Ayurveda. This will give a new horizons for better understanding of a disease for treatments and prevention.
